With a triumphant grin on her face, Norah half-skipped towards the box of balloons, pausing for a dramatic leap over the little puddles of paint that had been made on the floor. One more balloon, yeah? ORANGE this time, because she knew she needed it to finish her rainbow, but when she went back through all the colors she realized she was missing red too. Taking one orange AND one red balloon, she walked to the very highest targets. She was so gonna be able to do it. It was for the sake of a RAINBOW which was very important, y'know.
The fourth year set the two balloons beside each other and pointed her wand at the red one first. Glancing up at the targets to see if one was reaching the spot directly above, she cast, "Alarte Ascendare!" with a determined brandish of her wand. The red balloon shot upwards, missing the target by centimeters (okay, it was a LOT of centimeters but technically still centimeters) and continuing to move up until it splattered paint all over the ceiling. Whoooops? It'd gone all the way up, though! That was practically as good as hitting the target.
She aimed her wand at the orange balloon this time and said, "Alarte Ascendare," imagining the same upward motion. This balloon went up and clipped the edge of a target, popping open to spill orange paint all over the floor below. Did that count? That TOTALLY counted. Awwww yeah. Norah stuck her arm under the falling droplets of orange to catch some color. With the purple in her hair and the droplets of all sorts of her arms, the fourteen year old was all set. In her ELEMENT of colors. Best homework ever.
