His gaze went to his colleauge, a shrug rolling of his shoulders. "To tell the truth I was just doing a round of the grounds. Got a bit distracted with...memories and the like." He held up one of the smooth stones he was holding, as if it would offer all the explanation in the world.
Somewhere in the back of his mind, he remembered teaching a friend how to skip stones at this very lake. The memory came and went in an instant, replaced by another.
Cosgrach. Cosgrach Culloden. It clicked and his face heated slightly. "I never got to thank you for the treats you sent everyone. Or congratulate you." No sense in telling the man what he had done with said treats. "First child?" Okay, Sabel could use a lot words and chuckle. It might still be an act. Maybe they were told to chuckle here and there to look less soulless. Either way, Sabel talked, and said something worthy of a question: "Where did you grow up?" Where in the UK was colder than Scotland?
While Sabel was looking all over the place, Cosgrach's eyes were on him - not in a staring way, of course, but casually, since he didn't pick up anything to distract himself. 'Round of the grounds' yeah yeah. Cosgrach had never been close to Medea, but he missed the woman. He bet she wouldn't feel the need to guard the grounds. "Hogwarts does that," he said, "we all somehow love it here and the memories are... strong when we return." He just got used to being "back" after five years, was all.
Well, no, Sabel was being very un-Auror rigt now. Not only was he, like, talking; but he was also being... human-like. This one must have been a great Auror, then - passing with O from every 'act like a human' tests. Hmm... Well, then. If he wanted to... Cosgrach could and would have a conversation, because he was a friendly man and he could speak about Helena even with his arch enemy.
Grinning, he said "Hope you enjoyed them. Yeah, she's my first, though I already have three step children." He paused to smile at the thought of his family. "How about you? Any kids?" |
