Austin was heading up to his room after potions. It had been a hard class, and he really just wanted to go over his notes. On one hand he was glad the class was so hard, it meant that he was still learning. But he was so used to his previous years, when he knew most of the material. His mother had taught him a lot when she was alive, and although it was great knowledge, it wasn't everything. There was still a lot of things he needed to learn.

He paused for a moment and pulled out his notebook. The potion they had just made was a base potion, and the base was the same for every potion. But if he wanted to actually create a useful potion, he needed to put in different ingredients. And think of different thoughts? That was a lot to do in one step. And if he didn't get it right, he would have to start over. Maybe making a lot of the base part, and then putting that in separate jars. That way if he messed up, he would have more stored away. Hmm... This was hard...
