Alright, so that wasn't entirely fair. While his words had been honest, so was her disappointment. And he had vowed he wouldn't be like the others that had tried to steer him away from his chosen path. Maybe, there were other reasons she had, and excitement had spoken first.

Sabel's attention slipped to Brown as she too, turned....strange. "I appreciate the sentiment, but please, never promise to be oblivious to anything." It was a bad habit to get into. Didn't mean she had to report what she saw, but she should still be encouraged to see it.

A heavy sigh left him, and his eyes went to the cookies. "Well, I can't rightly eat these all on my own. I've got a figure to eat after all. So, help a guy out?" With that, he took three cookies off the plate.

His gaze landed on Shacklebolt, considering her for a long moment. When he spoke, his voice was gentle. "Why don't you swing by the practice room tomorrow, and show me what you can do?" And he handed the first cookie to her, meeting her gaze with simple promise. They'd see, and then they could talk more.

The second cookie went to Brown, with a bit more reluctance. "Let me know if you need help with that article." He'd leave it vague, as to which one he was talking about.

Sure, she was a goofball at time and tended not to always take things seriously, but... she was still learning. That didn't mean anything. Silently, Evie nodded and accepted the cookie and invitation. "I'll come after lunch," she said, a bit less disappointed at this meeting.

Speaking of the meeting, this seemed like a good place to close. Evie stood back up and linked arms with Sophie, pulling her with her. "Thanks, professor."

The man was far too literal for his own good, and Sophie had to restrain herself from sighing. "I wasn't really going to, professor. I was just trying to ease your stress. You've looked like you're gonna have some kinda meltdown ever since I started, like, psychoanalyzing you." Her grin was light and playful - she wanted him to RELAX. She wasn't a threat. She just wanted to be well-liked by him, but apparently she was trying too hard. "I'll stop actively trying to figure you out, but I can't help that you're interesting." She shrugged a shoulder. "Maybe y'should quit being so intriguing - s'hard for a Ravenclaw to resist," she offered him a gentler, but still cheeky sort of smile.

She was just TEASING him, okay? Trying to ease the tension in the room. Make him smile. Cool his jets.

He was a tough cookie, though. Very hard to figure out. It was a CHALLENGE, though - one that Sophie Brown couldn't pass up.

The comment about his figure made her giggle, and there was no way Sophie would ever turn down the offer of food, so when he offered her a cookie, she took a large bite. Talking about the articles with him made her feel weird now, so instead of commenting directly on that, she spoke through a mouthful of cookie, "I'anna 'uel 'ou, poo--" She swallowed. "I wanna duel you sometime, too, professor. Bet I could take you. Eves isn't the only one who got an Outstanding." She wiggled her eyebrows, challenging him, and hugged Evie's arm that had latched with hers.

"Yeah, thanks, professor." Their meeting hadn't been COMPLETELY awful, had it?
