She didn't need to know the details of his other negotiations, but he didn't mind the small talk as long as it stayed that way. "I did find that odd," he nodded thoughtfully as she mentioned lack of tryouts. "Maybe there was a lack of response. There were only two last year. I really think the lack of Quidditch at Hogwarts is really starting to take its toll." He wouldn't be so quick to blame the Ministry, though perhaps they could be doing more. But for the most part they seemed to at least try to be accommodating.
Kieran looked at her somewhat amused. He supposed it didn't surprise him that she'd think that way, considering that she shook up her own team on a regular basis. "I think we have different approaches to management. I do find it a little surprising that after the season you had, you're looking to make changes." Sure, it made good sense to have back up plans and keep options open but she had a strong team so it was interesting to see her changes. "I heard you got a new chaser."And what she said next was even more amusing. "That almost sounds.. threatening," he said with a smirk. "I'm not sure what you think is going on here, she's not my wife." Of course he cared a great deal about Muirgen and wouldn't want to intentionally jeopardize her career, but if she thought he was that driven by emotion, she was very mistaken. "Tupper's a fantastic beater and I'm certain you know that. If you're willing to give up that talent, I'm sure another team would be more than happy to snatch her up," he shrugged. And even if he thought it a conflict of interest to have her on his own team, he'd still sign her.
Kieran thought over her words a moment as the server showed up. Yes, Madsen had a bad season and seemed to be on the decline. He was on friendly terms with the guy, but he thought it'd be best to let him go, having one of the worst records in the league. But he'd be glad to see the guy go to a decent team rather than end his career. He ordered his dinner then waited for the server to leave before he turned his eyes back to Rebecca. "Two seekers for one, that is an interesting offer," he finally said, leaning back in his seat. "Of course that leaves me with no reserve and I'll have to scramble a bit to find one before season starts." He wouldn't admit it right away, but it still wasn't a bad deal. His reserve was fresh out of Uni with little experience. "And that gives you two on reserve? That seems like a waste.. Or what were you planning on doing with the one you had?" Still, he wasn't declining her offer, more was just curious on what her plans were. Rebecca crossed her legs and smirked at his words, of course he shouldn’t. More people should expect her to be the best. It really would make things much easier. “Just a few?” He raised a brow, she wasn’t stupid, he wasn’t one to just sit down and wait for a winning team. No she liked that about him, he had always seemed as a player ready to jump at what he needed to win, so she assumed the same as a manager. “Well if you ask me they need to find new ministry employees. The ones they have need their bottoms fired and thrown out. It’s obvious that Mariel what’s her name doesn’t know how to pick people to work under her, Victoria is the worst manager I have ever dealt with. Maybe if she’d stop popping out kids she could focus on her job.” The woman had yet another one, which was just disgusting to Rebecca. Wasn’t he idiot boy enough? She must have been trying to find a perfect one, but after so many she should just give up. She shrugged at his Hogwarts comment, the school was as ridiculous as the ministry. She didn’t know how the people of Britain really every handled it. “The seeker doesn’t work for us, neither did the little ‘girl’ group my team was starting to have. It needed a mix up before they get too comfortable. Comfort makes them lazy, they just assume they know each other and then start making mistakes.” She never dealt with comfort. It was better to keep on your toes. “Maybe you should adopt my approach and next season you could have a stronger team too.” Her arrogant smirk never leaving her face, yes they did have a good season, but they were not number one. She wouldn’t quit until she was. “See it how you want, but Tupper will be watched.” She could have her way to make sure a player that ever crossed her would not be able to find someone to sign them after she released them from the team. She certainly had her ways.
She waited for him to order sipping her wine and then she watched him as he thought over her words. “How badly do you want a change?” She knew she had the upper hand in this, she had the better record and better seeker, but she also knew with her specific coaches and training she could mold them both into what she wanted. “Reserves are a dime a dozen, you could easily find one I’m sure.” She waved her hand dismissively. “What I do with my team is my business, you will just have to wait and see.” Truth be told she was over the reserve seeker already and the contract was soon to be up.
