He couldn't do it. Any of it. Wouldn't be able to cast a patronus. Couldn't even find the right memory. Merlin. Maybe he should've just taken the hint after that OWL score. But no. Zander Adair was a lot of things, but he wasn't a quitter. Unfortunately he was stubborn. Sigh.
So yes he was still sat there on the floor thinking really REALLY hard about this memory thing. He remembered that time with his dad over at the park. No, not strong enough. Or maybe that time in the dueling arena making his first friend? No, not strong enough. He was stumped. Maybe he could find his happiest memory in fighting Peeves with Kevin? But that wasn't really happiness, was it? It was fun and still brought a smile to his face... But again, nothing strong enough.
The only memory that seemed to beat out the rest was the one of his birthday. His birthday, the room of requirement, endless smiling, and some really good pizza. That was the best memory of all. Still made him feel warm on the inside just thinking about it. Maybe that could be the one to do it? It sure gave him some confidence, though being around her always did.
