"I remember," he chuckled, giving the first year a confident salute and looking over his shoulder at the suit of armor again. "How are you and your pet rock getting on?"
Contemplating how best to present his request to the Ravenclaw - a peculiar bunch that would not just leap into a suit of armor simply because a professor dared them to - he failed to noticed one of the house elves going about her cleaning duties...along with the apparent influx of cobwebs. "Oh no you can ---" but before he could finish his sentence, she has poop'd away, duster and all.
Attention back on the young man, Airey rubbed his hands together and took a small step in his direction. "Tell me, Mr. Bronwyn, you don't have any serious allergies to...oh...iron or steel, do you?"
Smoooooooooooooooothe as chunky peanut butter. Rooney's face lit UP at the mention of his pet rock and NODDED. "Winston is GREAT. Have you thought any more about the group meetings?" Because Rooney was really hoping that it would be a thing. He and Winston had gotten up to ALL sorts recently and their time together had only just began. There was pretending to fly between beds in the dorm, sitting close to the fire with a stack of textbooks and a cup of hot chocolate -- OH and the explorative walk around the grounds. It was like having a best friend that didn't argue back about anything.
His thoughts about Winston were dragged away at the realisation that they weren't alone, but before Roo could say most anything... the house elf was gone. "Uh.. Do they always do that, Professor?" Running away scared? Were they scared of students? Or Professors? Was there something he wasn't aware of in this school?
Apart from all of those newspaper articles that Mama had burnt before he read them. Well, before she thought he hadn't read them. He had. He knew. He and Calliope had spoken for hours over the summer about them all. Rooney raised his eyebrow and looked between rockspacefessor and the suits of armour. "I don't think I'm standing close enough to them to have any reaction, Sir. If I was." He was not.
