And sweet solstice what a situation it was.
He was about to tell her outright that his answer was 'no'...until the 'none of my family are magical' bit of fully registered with him. The temptation was real. Asking Maddox to take over for a few hours while he went to observe the celebration - purely for scientific purposes only - but that was crossing all sorts lines that professionalism would not allow.
"I see," he nodded, his eyes glistening with excitement at his previous thoughts while his expression remained firm and concerned. "Given your circumstances, Miss Fields, our options are quite limited." Quite was really an understatement. He would escort her himself with side-along apparition, but she was not of age and he could not guarantee the same assistance to others. Nor could he support the notion of asking for a portkey specifically for the first year's needs. "Could someone in your family meet you in London at King's Cross station?"
Because her only option, really, was to utilize Hogsmeade station.
Rowan sipped at her tea, but she avoided the marshmallows - they were usually made with gelatine and she didn't want to risk it. The tea was good though. She was going to say that, when Professor Flamsteed started talking again.
... Limited, yes, but nothing was impossible right?? Surely with all this magic around they could do
something...
But no... King's Cross station was the only choice..? They'd never be able to afford train tickets for the faster trains... and even taking the cheap coach instead would take far too long... she'd have to leave before the celebrations were done if she wanted to be back in Hogwarts by 9:30...
"Well... you see... I live in Derbyshire Professor... and the train is so expensive from London to home and if you get the coach instead it takes five hours and... I'd miss everything..." Was that it though..? Was there really no other way? Rowan chewed her bottom lip, determined not to cry, she didn't like being sad so she often just refused, but... missing all the celebrations at home..? That was something she never thought she'd have to do, and the thought was really tugging at her heart.
