Pursing his lips, he considered that proposition. Don't advertise that he and Emily worked together.
... Weeeeeeeelllllllll ... technically speaking he'd already blabbed about that, but he could certainly promise not to tell anyone ELSE. Unless they asked. Or something. "Deal," he decided. "I doubt anyone would care anyway, and if they do, then they could probably figure that out for themselves." It was a difficult fact to miss if you thought about it. Head of MLE. Auror. They were bound to have known each other and stuff. OH WELL. "Now, I also have questions about your rules," and YES he was familiar with them already. "I don't like them, or, some of them."
And... which ones were they again? "The thing about risks, I sometimes can't help it, I do things without thinking so don't hold that against me. And then there's the one about food in the classroom, I hope chocolate frogs are not included in this cause it's always handy to have in case you feel poorly and faint and stuff." SUPER handy, not to mention incredibly delicious. "And the two strikes thing, that doesn't count for me, does it?" It was just for those that he didn't know and were stupid, right?
Was he keeping up? One of Sabel's eyebrows went up. "I don't suppose they'd be called habits, if they were easy to break." But they had a deal. Good. It didn't matter to Sabel what the kid thought of the deal, it made him feel a bit better. He'd leave out the part about who might care and who might not, and just move on with things.
Things. Rules. Questions about rules. Dislikes about rules. Well, this should be good.
Leaning back in the chair, Sabel hooked one ankle over his opposite knee, watching Zeke carefully. He was, admittedly relieved when the protests weren't against the 'No Unforgivables' or how school robes should be worn at all times. These protests were, fairly easy to answer. Starting with the last one. "No, two strikes don't count for you. You, have one." He'd let the kid try and sauce out whether it was because he had already lost one of the two strikes, favoritism was not to be had in his classroom or because he was Emily's son, he had extra high expectations of him. He had other rules to address.
Dropping his foot, Sabel leaned forward and intertwined his fingers together, forearms resting on his knees. The look he fixed Zeke with, was now very serious. "The rules are in place for a reason, Zeke. I don't consider myself an unreasonable man, and circumstances will dictate when a rule is breached or not." "As for food, this is a physical class, so I expect you all to come well prepared. And that includes eating. If you have issues with low blood sugar, I expect that you tell me before we start. If you need to have food on hand during class, give it to me and I'll keep it somewhere easily accessible but out of way of distraction."
The faintest ghost of a smile touched the corner of his lips. "I understand people don't always use their heads before acting. I used to be quite the impulsive kid myself. All I am asking is that you try to think, and look, before you jump. And you don't jump if you notice something that will put you or someone else in danger. I don't need to write ten owls a week explaining how Benny broke his arm and Molly chipped a tooth." Did he get it? Tempered, accidental risks only.
