"Apparently you can," she lied shrugged. Technically, one COULD go into the portrait. You just had to find the handle first. The younger girl's glistening eyes immediately portrayed disappointment when she stuck her finger through the painting. And that was sad. The prodding part was funny though. Stifling a laugh, Leah decided to give a clue. "What was the School motto again? Never tickle a... green pear?" she muttered softly, as if she was only talking to herself. Hehe.
Natalia still looked doubtful even after the older girl reassured her that one
could go into the painting. But after she had touched the portrait, Natalia confirmed the surface was too hard to penetrate. So it would be impossible for a physical being to walk through it, right?
Never tickle a green pear?? "I thought it was 'Never tickle a sleeping dragon'?" An expression of mild confusion spread across Natalia's face.
"Why never tickle a green pear though?" Never tickle a dragon made perfect sense, whether if it was asleep or not. But why pear?! WHAT WAS WRONG WITH TICKLING A GREEN PEAR.
"Wait seriously though, how do you get through..." Natalia had obviously not paid any attention to the details of the painting. It took her a moment to realize a huge
green pear lying in the fruit bowl in that exact portrait, right in front of them. Ha,
never tickle a green pear? Too bad.
Natalia tickled it. For giggles.
But what occurred right after took Natalia by surprise.
"Whoaa...a green doorknob!" It was as if Natalia had never seen a doorknob before. She poked it gently first, then twisted it open.
"OH MERLIN IT'S A SECRET CHAMBER!" Wait a minute... it's...NO WAY. THE BLOODY KITCHEN.
"Why do they say 'do not tickle a green pear'?! That's ridiculous!"
