Janelle gave her full attention to the House Ghost and responded to her question. "My summer was nice, but no, I didn't go on the school trip. I spent part of the time with my sister and brother since I don't get to see them very much. Then I went to visit some of my relatives in the U.S. It went by really fast. I can't believe a new term has started already."

Janelle tried to imagine what it must be like to live in an empty castle. Pretty boring she would guess. The students might be crazy, but they definitely made things interesting.

Janelle noticed Sophie sending a wave her way and she waved back with a smile. When saw a break in the action, she headed over to her new Prefect. Of course, Sophie was busy and surrounded by other students. Janelle waited her turn and then made her move.

"Hi Sophie", Janelle said with a big grin. 'Congratulations! I'm really glad that you are our Prefect now. I can't wait to tell Jasmine." Janelle knew that Sophie had her work cut out for her, but she knew she'd do a great job. Not wanting to keep Miss Prefect Brown from her duties, Janelle said, "I guess I'll see you around then." She figured she'd better head back to her seat. There'd be time to greet other friends later.

Suddenly Janelle noticed a boy sitting near her. A first year from the looks of it. She hadn't seen him around before. Ahhh, a smile and then a hi.....a new friend in the making perhaps? Turning to the new boy, she put on her best welcome face. "Hello. I'm Janelle. What's your name? Is this your first year?"

He seemed a little nervous to Janelle. She could understand that because after all, it was just one year ago that she was in his position. "Don't worry, Ravenclaw is a really great house. I'm sure you'll love it." I mean, what was not to love? "So, how are you enjoying everything so far?, Janelle asked. Better not overwhelm the boy with too many questions........give him a chance to talk.
