What does noona mean?

"Oh! It's uh..." He tried to explain. "So, in my homeland it's necessary to call a senior with this... call, yeah. If I met a girl senior so I call her noona and if I met a guy I call him hyung. Although I'm not in Korea anymore but I still like to use that... You understand my speak, by the way?" He asked back. "Sorry uh... This is my first time here. I'm from Seoul and I still need to.. work with my English. So.." He chuckled. "Anyway my name is Jackson, I will be fifth year." He said as he extended his hand.

Zhenya just shrugged slightly, "All good. Thanks for the company." Really. Senior? Zhenya tried not to laugh at the thought of being called a senior, after all it was a custom for the boy, but it was the first time Zhenya had ever been referred to as senior. So she nodded as she learned about this Korean tradition, glad to be learning something new. But she just blinked at his apologies and mentions that english was not his first language. "Yes I do understand you. Don't worry, your English is fine," she nodded. "I went through the same thing when I moved here from Russia, though I already spoke fluent English because of my family." But she knew what it was like, moving somewhere that didn't speak the first language, learning all the big parts and the tiny details of the english language. "But Seoul, what was that like?" She'd never done much travelling before, but she enjoyed hearing about different countries and the places others had lived and visited. After all, the legal aged Russian had enjoyed her adventures in Eastern Europe over the years.

"Jackson," she said, repeating his name, "Hi I'm Zhenya, I'm a seventh year." She closed the distance and shook his hand with a smile.

SPOILER!!: ADI!
Straight from the luggage compartment after pausing a few time to say hello to persons, Adi continued down the train corridor, glancing into occasional compartments. Gus was still with him, still on the shoulder and seemed to be just as happy as his owner to be back with all that croaking he was doing.

"Can't keep quiet, eh, Guster?''
Adi asked cheerfully as he looked through the glass to another compartment and catching sight of... ZHENYA! There was another guy talking to her but Adi went up to the compartment and waved to the girl inside, a broad grin on his face.[/QUOTE]

Zhenya looked to the side and saw her friend Adi! "Adi! Hey," she greeted happily, beaming at her friend and ushering him inside. "
Good to see you again, how was your holiday?
" she asked.

She looked back at her new friend (yes) and said "Jackson this is my friend Adi, and Adi, this is my new friend Jackson. Transfer from Korea," she said, introducing the two cool dudes.

Zhenya smiled at this, glad to hear that others were being greeted in the same fashion. She would have to remember those greetings. "So what do you say to greet those younger than you?" Was there such a thing?
