¼ of the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pls Cosgrach opened his arms for Alana to sit better, and then just held her there like he always did. It didn't occur to him yet that she could be jealous, because he THOUGHT little children liked babies. He smiled back at Vic. They were a family - the best one, if you asked him. "Let's hold her together?" he suggested, glancing at Vic to see if this was a GOOD idea or if he should have directly said "No" to Alana in case she wanted to hold her on her own in the future. But... Vic wouldn't let that. Nuh uh. And anyway - ugh, no, he was overanalysing. Alana would see that she couldn't hold Helena on her own anyway. He had to relax and remind himself he could be a good dad.
Awww! "I missed you too, babygirl," he said and huuuuugged her back. He couldn't believe HOW or WHEN it happened, but he rarely thought Alana wasn't really his daughter - the twins had just stole his heart like that. And he didn't know HOW, but instead of his love for others' getting weaker, his heart expanded to love Helena just as much.
A parent's heart was weird like that.
He smiled at Bart - a geniune, happy smile. "Great," he said, simply. Everything was perfect. |
