What's to have stopped, Miss Greene, from having disclosed that information to another party anyway?"
He needed convincing.
If it weren't happening to him (or any of his own) Jasper would've had to admit to himself that the constant vigilance he'd encountered in Level 2 that day was a bit exciting. It had a crime drama flare to it that his over-imaginative mind romanticized greatly. There he was in the Department of Magical Law Enforcement being questioned whilst his fellow Unspeakable was being interrogated.
The Cheetah patronus witch had stuck her head out of the doorway and greeted them. And as if nothing at all were the matter, Jasper smiled and waved back toward the witch. "Good evening, Miss Cambridge."
His thoughts then were immediately occupied once more on the things that Mr. Rainey was telling him. "Torture would not have worked. Nor would disclosing information freely. Miss Greene has no will of her own to do such things." So long as her employment packet of paperwork remained logged away in the vaults. "Memory extraction might be a possibility." But how much was possible to take from a person at a single go? And if you could only remove one memory at a time Jasper supposed that they couldn't have taken all of Miss Greene's memories. There could still be something he knew about the archivist that could be used as a reference.
Jasper watched as the older MLEr who'd acknowledged him earlier joined the Cambridge witch and took a seat near Miss Greene. Turning back to Mr. Rainey, he asked, "How do we know if her memory has been extracted?"
