~ Rise and Rise Again, Until Lambs become Lions ~ Definitely two joint 'interviews' going on. That had been Sabel's conclusion as his attention drifted more and more to the two men. Had Rainey planned this all along? Got Alexa to arrest a worker, just to bring the other Department Head down here? Truth be told, he wouldn't put it past the guy.
Sabel's attention went to the door as Alexa appeared in it, making him realize he had missed the most recent conversation behind the glass. She wanted him to do what now? Arrest the woman? For real.
His eyes slipped between the two department heads as he hesitated. Should he wait for Rainey's directive, or a resolution between him and Mr. Mitterbill? Likely not. Rainey had already given his opinion, if not directly, on the arrest and its continued existence. It would be undermining to him, to let the woman walk without sorting this out. As different as it seemed on the other side of the glass, the interrogation was now in Rainey's hands.
More importantly in Sabel's mind, however, was that it would be hypocritical of him not to back Alexa up at this point. And it would be determintal to let it go. As things stood, the woman behind the glass was right. She was being held unlawfully, and such news would certainly get around and come back to bite Alexa, and the MLE, in the rear. Time to make things official.
He let out a breath and pushed himself from the wall, ignoring whatever looks he was going to get from Annabelle and Sky, and nodding to Alexa as he moved past her and to the other room. The idea didn't make him bounce about with excitement as he pushed open the door and stepped inside, but at least this way Rainey could unfold whatever he wanted, under a legitimate arrest and the department wouldn't be attacked for it. "Ms. Greene, is it?" Pulling the chair back, Sabel sat down and folded his hands in his lap, watching the woman for a moment before speaking. "I know you are upset about this whole situation, and I am sure we will have a resolution soon. However, for the moment, until matters are resolved I am afraid I must make things official."
He spread his hands, encouraging her to keep any immediate protest quiet. "Please understand, that as of this current moment, no charges have been laid and no records or marks against your person are in effect. I am here to back Ms. Cambridge's decision on placing you under arrest."
She would want a reason, no? He let out a breath. He hadn't been there at her arrest, so he would base it on what he had seen and heard up to this point. "Under the pretense of questionable identity and refusal to comply with, and hostility towards, an officer of the law." YATI or not.
