Iwin listened as his father read the letter aloud. Peré …his Peré had died. He approached his mum and took her hand in his, frowning. “Mama...” he began. She was now curled up on the couch, her eyes streaming tears. “It will be okay, Mama—” he said, in French, to make her happy.
