That made it feel like he didn't really have one. It was a secret cruppy. But HIS secret cruppy. He was allowed to be excited still, okay? Just like how come couples have year long "honeymoon" phases. This was like the crup version of that. Totally.
Azalea was his very own. YUP. And he gave her a proud beam as he nodded his head firmly. YEAH it was all his idea. Mhm. Who would've thought, Zander Adair... Naming something all on his own. A ridiculous idea. Pft. "It erm.. Took a while to come up with though," just so she knew that he wasn't a natural namer. "I sort of called her 'noname' for the first two weeks." AHEM. Totally blushin about it too. Oops. BUT he had decided to undertake OWL studies very early on in the term first time for everything, right? and happened to come across the brilliant name in his herbology book.
So win-win.
Who knew studying could actually get you places, right!?!? Merlin. How come he hadn't tried it earlier? Oh yeah. Because studying was boring.
Ahem. ANYWAYS. He wasn't here to study. He was here to NOT study. "So you uh, wanna take her right outside and see if she'll play with us?!" Bit by bit, she was inching closer and closer to the puppy. There was a bit of toe-bouncing and some definite, major restraint from abandoning all decorum and burying her face in the dog's face. It was what people did to cute animals, right?
But somehow, somehow by some miraculous design, she managed to stop just in front of the both of them and not accost the puppy with all the love an eleven-year-old could give. She giggled a little bit when it's wet nose sniffed her hand and then her hand received some very loving, but slimy puppy kisses. "What does it mean?" She looked up at Zander as she chanced bending a little bit closer to the puppy. Maybe if she got puppy kisses, then that would mean it would be okay to give them back to the squirming ball of fur? "Her name?"
Didn't matter how long it took to come up with in her opinion. A good name is a good name, period. And Azalea was such a beautiful name. Amur giggled. "I bet your way, way way future kids will have really good names. Once you are done numbering them to keep track of them, until you find a name for them, that is."
She grinned broadly. Kids shouldn't talk about having kids in her books, but in this case it seemed okay. It was okay to talk about names and naming people. Because some people just couldn't do it. At all. Take it as a compliment Mr. Adair.
As for playing with the cruppy. Amur bounced back onto her toes and nearly let out a shout of excitement, catching herself just in time. Puppies had sensitive ears. It wouldn't be nice to be loud. She bit back her excitement and nodded her head eagerly. "Does she know how to fetch? Or play hide-and-seek? Or....or or or maybe we could try and get her to do an obstacle course? Or she could become a dancing show dog! Or a search and rescue puppy!"
