32. UNBREAKABLE VOW
Seventh Year
Molly and Arthur “Are you sure that’s what you heard Mr. Weasley?” McGonagall asked during one of their after midnight defence training sessions.
“I’m certain. I was sort of… hiding behind one of the statues and heard them talking about it,” Arthur explained. He wasn’t about to tell her he was hiding in a secret passage quite near the Slytherin common room, but by the piercing look she was giving him, he was sure she had an inkling.
“What’s the big deal?” Monty asked.
Of course they had never spoken about the Unbreakable Vow in classes.
McGonagall gave a glance towards her and said “It’s a wizarding promose, but like the name suggests… it cannot be broken. If it is broken, death is the result.”
“Geez, that’s pretty morbid. Arthur, do you know what the context was?” Monty asked, feeling quite disgusted.
“Well they just said they didn’t say what the promise was, or who it involved, they just said when they left Hogwarts they had to make the Unbreakable Vow with someone because it was their duty to do a job, or something, and they said even if they refuse to make the vow, or even do the job, they’ll be killed.”
