3. BRAKING CHARM
Seventh Year

Molly Frank nodded, stifling a laugh. How can Molly not know how to fly? “Right, well, you mount your broom,” he said, mounting his own broom. Molly mounted one of the school’s spare brooms. “And kick off,” he demonstrated, soaring into the sky.
Molly followed, her broom quivering from her direction. “Now what?” she half yelled in a strained voice.
“You’re really scared, aren’t you? Why don’t you just tell him you don’t want to? He’ll understand.”
“No, he wants to take me flying. I’m going to go flying.”
“Okay… well, now we will just do a few laps, then I’ll teach you to fly down and dismount.”

After about twenty minutes, Molly felt a bit more comfortable in the air. “RIGHT SO WE’LL JUST FLY DOWN AND DISMOUNT! WATCH ME!” Frank yelled, descending and dismounting slowly so Molly could see. “YOUR TURN!”
Right. Down she went, screaming.
“Oh dear,” Frank said, whipping his wand out and pointing it towards Molly, who found herself slowing down, as if someone had taken hold of the broom to control it. Once she was on the ground Frank laughed, “How about I teach Arthur the breaking charm then?”
Molly laughed.
