Oh wait. HUZZAH! Good thing he had taken an eternity debating whether or not to roll. Now he both did not have to put his magazines back AND he had not been slapped. This was a good moment for the Astronomy professor.
"For...me?" he asked with a smile. "Of course you were. Why else would you be, um, not falling asleep here in my waiting area." Ahem. Just going to, um...clear his throat and getting back to tying his shoelace. "What can I, er, what can I do for you?"
And please don't ask for a blanket.
...or say that she passed out here waiting because she hadn't been able to sleep in her dorm room because of roommate things.
...or any sort of inquiry to do with teenage angst. Surely a first year was still in the clear of that? This Professor .... he got it.
Amur smiled in appreciation and glanced from the man's face to his foot and back again, while refraining from the overwhelming urge to rub the near-sleep from her eyes. Instead, she scrubbed her palms together as she watched him. "Well, I ....."
Her eyes drifted down to his shoe again. He was wearing closed-toed shoes, so it couldn't have been that bad, right? Maybe.... "How's your foot, Professor?" May as well clear that up before dipping into the rest of it.
