Benny followed where Professor Tanner was pointed and tried to take in what she was saying and what it meant. Without letting his head start to spin at the complexity at the subject matter. Arithmancy was soooo not his subject, even moreso than Potion had not been at least before Culloden had worked him through it.
"You mean the mental and spiritual transits would only last for 32 years? With the changes by letter happening between birth and that year?" Not the letters changing every 5 years and perhaps repeating the cycle afterwards until death as he had believed the calculations to mean. Letters...numbers...all being used together. It was confusing to him.
Benny glanced over at Adi and thinking back to what the Hufflepuff had said. Hadn't he reduced too? His partner had said his mental transit had been 7 but that sounded like it was too small in comparison to the 32 that the arithmacy professor was claiming as his own proper answer. "Did you reduce?" he questioned his friend curious.
Say whaaah?
Adi tilted his head as Professor explained things. Oh... so no reduction then? Well that could be easily fixed thankfully. At least he didn't have to go do over the interpretations. All that needed to be done with that was change the words he had said in past tense with future tense. WHEW!
He nodded at Benny.
"Yeah, I did. But I can fix that.'' Already the fifth year was making modifications to his calculations for his bestie.
"There. All done. So your Mental transit lasts until 43 and your Spiritual one lasts until 27.'' Gosh. Forty Three.
"Reckon you'll have grey hair by forty three?'' Adi pondered out loud and now imagining a grey haired Chinese Fireball. Hehe.
