He'd debated on flowers for a while, but Dale had advised against it. Dale had ALSO had vetoed the bright pink shirt, because his little brother was apparently allergic to FUN. Jake still stood by the fact that it would have been a perfect identifier, and he liked to casually ignore the points that 1. his intended date had no idea that that would BE the identifier, and 2. the waiter would be bringing her to the table anyway, what with their mutual friend having set everything up.

And so it was that Jake was seated at a table for two in the restaurant, in a much more subtle and smart-casual suit and sans the pink shirt. He glanced nervously at the door and adjusted his glasses, before running a hand through his blond hair.

He was absolutely not freaking out, or at least that was what he told himself as he straightened the menu on his table and took a sip of water. Not freaking out, just reasonably anxious about getting back into the dating game.

But ready. So ready. Yep. Eek. Okay, NO. Ready. Yes.

Blind dating was exhilarating, in the sweet Merlin please let this guy be as good as I'm hoping kind of way. Sure, she had some expectations set - was that a bad thing? Becca didn't think so, as expectations let her know right away whether this was going to result in an early declaration of CHECK, PLEASE! or if this could escalate into something... more.

When she arrived, she immediately set to scanning the restaurant for a man around her age seated by himself, but before she could find someone who fit the bill, she was approached by the waiter. Patiently explaining the situation, Becca was led deeper into the restaurant, and she held her clutch bag (that was stylishly charmed to match the color of her dress) close to her body as she skimmed the faces of those already present...

...There was a man sitting alone. Was he...? Oh, Merlin. The waiter was leading her there. To him.

Years and years had passed, but Becca Parker was good with faces, and she knew this one - as a former people-watcher and appreciator of handsome boys at Hogwarts, she knew this Seeker. Never spoke to him personally, but the younger man... yes, she knew who he was, but she hadn't seen anything about him in quite awhile - had he not gone on to pursue a career in Quidditch? With impressive skills like him in his youth, it was a wonder that he hadn't, actually.

It took her a moment to register a name with the face, but she did just in the nick of time as they reached the table. "Jake Upstead." It might have sounded like an accusation, but a smile graced the woman's features as she subconsciously scrutinized him from head to toe. "Is that really you?" She knew it was - he still had the same general features, just a bit more manly with an extra dash of handsome - but Becca thought it best to seem uncertain for the time being. She bet he didn't recognize her one bit.
