She gave a look to the prefect..frowning at first before giving him an acknowledging nod. "Well Mr.Banner..I hope your presence is more help to us than it was to that Slytherin student who unfortunately lost his life." IN other words try to make a mends. "Welcome to our little search party."
Miss Neverwinter received a side eye of epic proportions. Teenagers were so arrogant she could barely pretend to understand it. What? "Maybe they didn't fancy listening to the sordid business you students and because you think you own everywhere you land you knobby little legs on they left." And besides...Hogwarts ghosts were not in the business of scaring people. "They went to the spirit room...only you lot found your way there too didn't you?" Were all her questions answered?
Sophia turned to the house elf. "Argyle...you have been here for a long time, haven't you? Are you aware of anymore secret entrances or rooms..nooks or crannies that we aren't aware of?" Were there crevices and corners where the elves were stashing things? Quote:

"Argyle was cleaning. Is the staffs and studentses needing anythings? Argyle can help if they needs her!" Argyle did so love to help those who lived in the castle. Amur blinked at the woman, and blinked again. Just....what?
As much as she knew this was a Professor, who stood a good few feet above her both literally and metaphorically, Amur couldn't help it. She just couldn't help the indignation that swelled within her, puffing out her chest and flattening her shoulders. Thankfully, it flattened her voice as well to an irate mumble-jumble of discontent, one which the back-turning Professor may or may not have heard. "I've never snogged anyone. I don't do sordid business. And while I may have knobby little legs, I use them for walking and exploring, but I do not think that everywhere I deposit my bottom, I own. Thank-you-very-much."
Seriously, were there students like that here?
"So excuse me. I would rather talk to ghosts any day than snog some weasel-nosed, zit-faced boy!"
Okay, so that last bit might have come out a bit louder than she expected. So sorry to the boys in their midst.
But frankly, she didn't appreciate being grouped in with such a lousy population. No-thank-you. Perhaps Professor Quigley had shared the book with Professor Bellaire and that's why she was so touchy.
She frowned at the back of the woman's head with an equal stink-eye, and upon doing so, finally recognized what the alteration in their group had been. An ELF? A house elf?! She had been so wrapped up in her huffing that she hadn't even heard the 'pop'.
Amur squiggled up to Bellaire's side and peered at the elf, her excitement sinking only a hair. It wasn't Toddles or Tippin. In fact, it was an elf she didn't recognize. But she looked friendly enough. Wait, were they trying to find secret corridors? Why wouldn't the Professor's know about these things? Given they worked at Hogwarts and all. Seemed sort-of-necessary. Of course, it also discounted the 'secret' aspect.
Hm, problems and contradictions.
