You know, the very first poster for the club had been very misleading. All about exploring the castle and such, but it failed to mention the fact that mapping stuff was so much work! Of course the past few times he had gone out, he was able to get out of it. First time when they went to visit the House Elves, he got away with playing tic-tac-toe with Damien for a bit and then trying to chase Toddles around the room in search of the stolen chocolate frogs. Then the second meeting, he got to explore the GIRL'S bathroom and that was entirely distracting on it's own. Besides, once they went into the Chamber of Secrets there were tons of Nifflers and progress had sort of been put to a stop.
So this actually doing stuff thing was a very different experience entirely. Sophie did make it more fun, though Zander had to pretend to be utterly horrified every time his hair was ruffled. Of course if he wanted any of it to stop, he knew her weakness. But she wouldn't let her go through that kind of humiliation in front of Professor Flamsteed. You're welcome, Sophie Brown.
But despite the goofing around, this sketching stuff was his best work yet. Way better than that tic-tac-toe board. Things even sort of resembled what they were supposed to. Though some of the desks looked more like water fountains or something wonky like that. But for the most part... He was being as artistic as he could, okay? Besides, he figured what he missed Sophie Brown would get so it was all good. Her drawings were much better anyways.
As they reached the observatory, the boy took a moment to look around. It was his favorite room in this tower. He had just decided. Though the clunk, clunk, clunking was a bit distract-- .... Uh. Was the Professor letting his rock of it's leash?? Was he aware that the rock didn't even need a leash to begin with... It was a rock? But well, after the tie thing, nothing could really surprise Zander Adair anymore. No that was a lie. Ahem. Anyways. "Alright, I'll start from over here," he watched as Sophie moved over to the other side and took a few steps.

Merlin. She was taking this so seriously. Was it really that big of a deal? Having to draw everything completely to scale? Also... They had different sized feet so how would... Uh. Huh? Uh. Yes, Professor Flamsteed what do YOU recommend because Zander Adair wasn't mapping material.
