Caleb had, actually, been practicing the patronus charm all year in his free time - if he wasn't going to learn it any time soon in classes, he was going to learn it himself! Mostly it was out of curiosity - he wanted to know what his patronus was!
He'd been successful a few times, meaning that he'd gotten a shape that looked like some sort of canine out of it. Was he really that surprised? He LOVED dogs, especially his dogs, and wouldn't be surprised if his patronus turned out to be that as well. Now time to do a little showing off...
He cleared his throat and mustered up some of his happiest memories - Levi's birth, getting Baldwin, learning he'd been made prefect..."Expecto Patronum!" he exclaimed, pointing at the dummy and focusing all that happy energy on the dummy. A blue-ish wolf like shape - or was that a Bernese Mountain Dog? Meh, he still couldn't tell - appeared for a few seconds, bounding towards the dummy, before disappearing. Just a bit more practice and he'd have a full patronus, he was sure of it!
