SPOILER!!: YOU my dear could never be lame. SHIIIINE bright like a diamond. *ahem*
"Uh, do I?" he scratched the back of his head as he gave his notebook one last sweeping glance. Well the handwriting got a bit wonky as you got further down in the notes, but only 'cause his hand started cramping half way through. Though he was quite proud of this set. It took a while too actually and he didn't write a single word of it during class. But, suppose that's what he's got to do now since OWLs and all.. "I tried to model them off the notes my friend Lottie sent me to be honest... Just need something legible for exams this year, they're not normally this neat. I pinky swear." Because did having neat notes make him look nerdy? Because he wasn't nerdy. BUT if AJ was going to call him smart again, he wouldn't protest to it. He liked being called smart, actually, despite how he may shove off the compliment entirely.
Anyways, he took his eyes off his notes finally as AJ began to read through them herself. Aparecium. Um. That wasn't the first on his list. Merlin, he should've known they weren't going to go in order. AJ wasn't exactly the conventional kind girl now, was she? "Erm.. Wait DONTWHACKME! I know this one," he did just had to think for a moment, okay? "That's what the old gossip magazine was called... Because... It makes invisible ink appear!!" RIGHT? That HAD to be it. Just incase he shrugged down a bit because if he was about to get whacked, then might as well be prepared y'know? Ahem. Not that he expected to be whacked or anything. Ahem. But he did want one of those jelly beans she was taunting him with. REALLY REALLY wanted one and to show it, he eyed them very intensely, licking his lips as he did so. He hadn't eaten dinner yet, okay?
...
..
.
Uh.
How was a boy supposed to react to the words 'giant spider army' exactly? Because Zander must've been doing it wrong. There was a lot of blinking involved. And a lot of questionable looks. And he was still trying to process all that AJ was saying because uh, had she gone ABSOLUTELY INSANE OR WHAT?!?! "Uh.... I don't think you can exactly train a bunch of wild spiders, AJ... What if they turn on you?" Just trying to be practical here. Because wasn't that the first thing you had to think of when training a giant spider army and-- Okay so maybe not. But when exactly had Zander Adair been logical? This was just a step forward for him, alright? He was also avoiding the question. Could she tell?
"Yeah, you do. I am nowhere near this organized." It wasn't her own year either so truth be told she wasn't that worried about it. Why worry today when you can worry tomorrow? AMIRIGHT? Not that she would worry then. AJ already knew what she was going to do with her life and some stupid tests would not deter her either way. Adi would die if he heard her talking like this. Good thing he wasn't around then. A smiled crept on her face. It was as if he was trying to find an excuse as to why he was all smart and organized. AJ didn't need to be impressed. Own it, Zander. Be you. That was what was impressive.
"Looks like Lottie taught you well." Who was the Lottie person because she might come in handy. But, she did have Zander so that would work too.
Erm? Erm? AJ's hand twitched towards her wand. It was looking like she was going to be able to smack Zander early on in their study session. Thank goodness she was here because Zander was in serious need. Her hands were just about to tighten on her wand when he said he knew it.
"Let's hear it then." He had about one minute to think then it would be wand whacking time. He got it just in the nick of time.
"Correct." Now he was to be rewarded.
"You get a treat." Roll over. No, AJ, he wasn't really a dog. AJ picked up a red one and tossed it over to him. Her fingers scanned his notes again.
"Avis." More skipping around happened, but this one wasn't too far down the list.
This was why Zander was scared of her. All of the signs were there, and she bet if she wasn't helping him with his studying he would suddenly have to go to the bathroom and never come back. AJ was glad that wasn't the case though.
"Why not?" You can do anything if you just believe. HEHE.
"My sweet and precious babies won't turn on me." She was their mama.
"You don't bite the hands that feeds you." Wait a minute.
"I can train them by whacking them with my wand." Wand whacking sure was useful.
"If they get whacked enough times they will learn to fear the wand." Oh man.
"I could totally be a Ravenclaw." Take THAT sorting hat.
"So what do you say? Will you help me or will there have to be a plan B?" Really, the ball was in his court. If he didn't want to risk the spiders turning on her all he had to do was agree to help her.
