Did Zander know how to lie? Adi wasn't sure but hey! His imitation of his guy bestie's voice seemed to be passable. MISSION ACCOMPLISHED! He flashed a faint smile. Benny wasn't known for giving big, goofy grins. But what Adi would not do was confirm nor deny AJ's guess. He never lied to her and wasn't about to start to doing so now. "Something wrong?" Adi/Benny questioned, not at all knowing about the thoughts running through his girlfriend's head. Obviously not. And it also worked out that his bestie had the chivalrous attribute of a Hufflepuff. It was one of the reasons the two boys can pass as brothers.
In love? Well, well, WELL, it wasn't the first time Adi got passed over for an animal and it certainly would not be the last time. Might as well get used to it, Adi. "I thought you were in love with Adi.'' Just look at her with that look on her face. Adi's biggest competition was unicorns. LOL.
"Yeah, the prefects did a great job, didn't they? I think I see some of those Talking Toadstools over there,'' the Puffer said and pointed out of the window towards a part of the 'forest' where the fungi were spread out apart from each other.
And look at that! They had come to the end of the ride! Well, the part that lead them to the Castle at least. Now it was time for the trip back to the Grounds. "That was an enjoyable trip, wasn't it?"
She had a sort of funny feeling that someone was trying to have a good time at her expense. Was this really Benny? Had she been right in guessing Zander? Was the person behind the mask even really a Gryffindor?
"Sure you don't." AJ could play that game too.
"Well, mystery man, you sure know how to keep a girl on her toes."
He meant besides her wearing a dress, she assumed.
"I'm just thinking about food. I hope they have good stuff versus fancy food." What she said wasn't a lie because she had been thinking about food. AJ just failed to mention everything that was spinning around in her head at the moment. Nothing wrong with that.
The next thing that came out of his mouth made her head swivel to look at him dead on. For a second she was going to out herself, but at the last second she decided to give him a taste of his own medicine.
"Who's Adi?" Oh, this was fun.
"Ohhh, you mean that Hufflepuff prefect. He has a girlfriend. Why would you think I loved him?" Maybe this was really Benny after all. It could still be Zander as well because he knew a lot about her too. Plus, her and Adi dating wasn't exactly secret, but being able to know it was her underneath her costume would take someone who knew her VERY well.
AJ nodded.
"They really did. It looks amazing." She was proud of her boyfriend, but she could tell this dude that. She looked over to where he was looking and smiled. She too spotted a talking toadstool. Angel would love this scenery. She couldn't help but to wonder where she was. It was funny to think that the two of them had gotten ready together, but they wouldn't recognize each other if they were standing inches from one another.
A smile was planted on her face.
"It was a great ride." AJ enjoyed it very much. The only thing that could make this better was if Adi was the one sitting by her side. Whoever was beside her wasn't bad company though.
Alright, so he couldn't exactly go ahead pretending he didn't know who she was now that he had mentioned Adi.
"I haven't seen them. Or maybe I have but I just didn't recognise them. I'll try looking at the dance floor next.'' Pause.
"Want to go with me? Maybe you could find Adi.'' Plus he reallllly wanted to dance with her.
Of course. Food was always on AJ's mind, wasn't it?
"I think there's fancy food.'' Not think. He KNEW there was actually fancy food.
"I'm not sure if there's anything chocolate though.'' Hehe.
"Because you're AJ. That band on your hand is the one Adi gave you and you talk about unicorns plus you mentioned your sister forced you into the dress.'' Okaaaaay, maybe he was talking waaaay too much. Benny was a bestie of few, few, few words. Benny had been present at the Gryffindor table at the time he had slipped the band on AJ's hand so... yep. Adi's identity was safe.
Adi recognised more plants including a few Flutterby Bushes but where were the creatures, man? Were they lurking behind trees? Hmph. Adi wanted to see them too but he'd rather look at AJ. He knew he knew he couldn't make it too obvious that he was doing so because it wasn't something Benny would do.
"We're almost back at the Lake.'' Adi could see the line of students and probably Professors waiting for their turn with the carriages.
