If I was so important to break those rules and then all of the sudden I wasn’t. Though I know it was me or Tupper and Tupper didn’t want to leave, so she had to make her choice.” Clearly Tupper was the better player for Rebecca. A small smile crossed his lips, “Yes, I can. I don’t mean to, but it just happens.” There were matches he felt bad for the aggression he would show, but during the match he was fully zones and focuses that he didn’t notice the fouls. “I don’t know, you do a good job at distracting, maybe you are just in this to keep our standings lower than your own. “ He was clearly just joking with her and laughed at the very thought of it. The media could take it anyway they wanted, he knew the truth and that was all that mattered to him. He didn’t think Harvey would have too much to say on the issue either. “Well going to places like this instead of full wizard places will help keep us out of the papers I think.” He was sure of the fact that if they stayed out of the eyes they could stay out of the papers.
His lips went to hers to give her a light kiss, but he sighed at her words. “It is my job and I love my job most of the time. Hitting people is never a problem.” That was the plus side of things, he wouldn’t have to face her that much. “Yes that is a good thing.” He was very glad of that. “Though I do enjoy coming to watch you play.” He had a good time when he was off that week and got to come. Though he assumed people could see him at his old team’s games as something different and wrong. He chuckled about the fan thing, “Yes I’ve heard that and have seen them go crazy at the matches. Catapult fans were dedicated, but these people do take it to a new level.” It was very entertaining to watch when he got the chance before and after matches. Esme wasn't sure how she felt knowing that Giles had been purposely breaking rules because Rebecca pushed him to. But she figured she could attribute it to him getting carried away like he said. She knew as well as anyone else who played the game how one's competitive spirit could take over, but she was glad he was out of that situation now. And she frowned when he mentioned the trade. He had a good point. She wanted him to break all those rules then she got rid of him. She had even questioned that herself at a team meeting but wasn't exactly satisfied with the answer. "It still doesn't seem fair. Why did she have to trade anyone at all?" That part still made no sense to her. They had a pretty great team, what was the sense in breaking that up? The beaters they got for him weren't exactly fitting in well either. She chuckled a little, not just meaning his aggression in matches, then smiled a bit as she looked at him certain she was blushing. "Well, you're competitive like me. It makes for an exciting game."
She couldn't help the grin that crossed her lips and the chuckle that came with it hearing his words. "If I was that distracting I think your standings would be a lot lower. You can hold your own against us." But she knew that as soon as the media got wind of their dating, that they'd have some sort of spin on it. On that she was sure she wouldn't like, but anything that had people butting into her business was likely to annoy her. "Yes, I think you're right," she mused aloud, smiling softly. Going to places like this would help keep people out of their business, but she thought it might just be a matter of time. It didn't matter to her that people knew, she'd just prefer people to mind their own business and not draw their own conclusions. "I would like to go other places too though," she added with a bigger smile.
As competitive as she was, Esme wasn't sure she could ever play as a beater. She had to give those players some credit. And she knew that under normal circumstances that he wouldn't have an issue aiming a bludger at someone but she had meant specifically her. If he had to hit her again, then he needed to. But at least that wouldn't come up again for a while. "Maybe you'll have to come watch me again, then," she grinned. She did like having him as her own personal fan. As long as she was playing well and winning. Hopefully there was a week or two when they didn't have games at the same time so that could happen for both of them. Her smile got wider as she heard him talk about the Cannons fans. "Really? That's gotta be great for morale. I'll have to see that for myself." Games where the fans were really into it were a lot of fan.. at least from the stands.
