Though he was still consciously reminding himself not to shake, he couldn't help it anymore. He let Professor's Quigley's voice ring through his head, but he was having such a hard time keeping focused at this point. It was over, wasn't it? Hogwarts, well, his time at Hogwarts anyways. He opted to stay quiet this time, something that he hoped Puck would do too, and only added silent nods and shakes of the head in understanding at everything his charms Professor was saying. Did you think that made you a good Leader? No. Walking in because he wouldn't come out? No. Contrary to what you may believe, compromise is not always the best approach. Yes, understood. The Groundskeeper has a hut near the forest. Yes. Why hadn't he thought of that? If he refused to leave, you should have run to get him. Understood. Never let someone else draw you into their recklessness. It's a poor reflection on you. Yes, sir.

He didn't even say a word as the Professor took away house points. Point loss, it seemed like a silly thing to worry about now. Especially because he was sure that he'd be sent away from the school within a few hours. Expulsion. It was all that ran through his head.

He only lifted his head to turn it when the Headmistress began to storm over. This was it. He was surely doomed now. The Gryffindor's face must've turned a completely pale shade of his normal complexion as she came by and let her fingers undo his badge. It wasn't as if he wanted the extra responsibility in the first place and it wasn't like he thought he truly deserved it all either, others were more capable. He knew that now. But it was a part of the routine. He was honored with it and he wanted to do it justice, but he failed. He failed miserably. Lux was right, he'd never be as good a prefect as Bay was. He wouldn't even be a prefect period. Of course this meant he had to tell Lottie... And Sophie Brown too... And Kevin. His parents would surely never let him live it down. But more than all of them, Zander would beat himself up for it. For letting this get out of hand. For disappointing everyone. For disappointing himself.

Tomorrow, when he'd wake up and put on a new set of robes, he'd have to consciously remind himself that there would be no badge to reach for. There'd be no extra time spent fumbling with a metal pin. There'd be nothing extra he had to do. There'd be no meetings to attend. No notices to hang up. This was it.

Again as she addressed the entire set of them, he lifted his head slowly. He stuttered a solem, "Y-yes m-ma'am," before nodding his head back down and turning towards the door. His dormitory was the last place he wanted to go. Of course Bart would probably laugh in his face and the others would ask questions. If Kevin had found out about it by now, he'd have to explain the the fourth year. He wasn't ready. None of this should have happened.
