She supposed that didn't surprise her, but she hated the thought of that woman using Giles for her own benefit, especially when he could get into trouble for those things. She was a moral-less woman, really. Biting her lip, she ran her finger over the top of his hand. "You can get a little aggressive." Not something she minded though. And Quidditch could be an aggressive sport. She knew that all too well and often enjoyed it.
She giggled a little at his words, blushing as she tucked a lock of hair behind her ear. "Our standings are too close for anyone to believe something like that." She would rather their personal life be kept completely out of the press, but she would be really upset if it was made out that she was just using him to better her team or whatever nonsense they'd come up with. And unfortunately, she knew what he said was true. Being Quidditch players meant that they were somewhat recognizable and they'd be out together enough that someone would figure things out. "Hopefully they won't publish anything too bad or.. false," she said softly. Esme felt bad for Muirgen, even though she wasn't sure she'd read the article yet. She knew that whole article was just gossip and half-truths, and once she finally did get wind of it, she'd probably feel bad herself. Not to mention what people who did read it were thinking about her.
She smiled softly at him, then reached her hands across the table to place on either side of his face as she leaned over to lightly kiss him. "No more thinking of that. It's your job. You did just what you had to do and if you have to do it again, you'd better." She gave him a pointed look before sitting back in her chair. Of course Esme would rather not get ht with a bludger or have any bones broken, but she wasn't going to have him hesitant to do his job or feeling guilty about hitting her during a game. "I'm glad we don't play you again this season though," she chuckled. That one time was difficult enough. She knew she was hesitant to an extent too, and seeing him hit with that bludger upset her more than she thought it might.
Looking across the table at him, Esme really missed him being on the team and the connection they all had. Charpentier was still adjusting and it just wasn't the same chemistry between them all. But she did think that maybe things worked out for the best. Was it easier to date someone from another team rather than a teammate? She didn't know but thought that might be better somehow, that they weren't on the same team anymore. "Maybe.. but even so, you will have new fans. I hear Cannons fans are fiercely loyal, you're going to have so many more fans." And why wouldn't he? He was a pretty amazing player. It wasn’t some of his proudest moments and most of the bonus money he gave to the community, especially the orphanage, but it was still a moral issue he had about breaking rules for the woman. “She did, she enjoyed the fact I got carried away.” He shook his head, it was ridiculous, but he was past it all now that he wasn’t there. “That’s the part that bugged me the most about the trade. If I was so important to break those rules and then all of the sudden I wasn’t. Though I know it was me or Tupper and Tupper didn’t want to leave, so she had to make her choice.” Clearly Tupper was the better player for Rebecca. A small smile crossed his lips, “Yes, I can. I don’t mean to, but it just happens.” There were matches he felt bad for the aggression he would show, but during the match he was fully zones and focuses that he didn’t notice the fouls. “I don’t know, you do a good job at distracting, maybe you are just in this to keep our standings lower than your own. “ He was clearly just joking with her and laughed at the very thought of it. The media could take it anyway they wanted, he knew the truth and that was all that mattered to him. He didn’t think Harvey would have too much to say on the issue either. “Well going to places like this instead of full wizard places will help keep us out of the papers I think.” He was sure of the fact that if they stayed out of the eyes they could stay out of the papers.
His lips went to hers to give her a light kiss, but he sighed at her words. “It is my job and I love my job most of the time. Hitting people is never a problem.” That was the plus side of things, he wouldn’t have to face her that much. “Yes that is a good thing.” He was very glad of that. “Though I do enjoy coming to watch you play.” He had a good time when he was off that week and got to come. Though he assumed people could see him at his old team’s games as something different and wrong. He chuckled about the fan thing, “Yes I’ve heard that and have seen them go crazy at the matches. Catapult fans were dedicated, but these people do take it to a new level.” It was very entertaining to watch when he got the chance before and after matches.
