No problem there at all. But she wouldn't have really wanted her teammate to have to say anything because she felt personal lives should stay private. Obviously certain magazines disagreed. "I'm not sure if she saw it, to be honest," she shrugged then took a sip of water. "You'd think she would have flipped if she had.." Though there had been a snide comment that made her think that maybe she had read it. She laughed a little humorously as he asked if she had seen the misprint and she nodded. "New.. or obviously not a sports writer, just interested in gossip." That was just one of the things that annoyed her about the article. The writer obviously didn't do their homework at all. Her annoyed expression softened as Giles continued and she smiled widely as he mentioned the awards banquets. She usually found them stuffy and boring, but maybe it could be fun to dress up and go with a date. "That would be nice.. I think I'd like that."
She watched him carefully, nodding at his words. "I know you are," she said softly. "I just.." She briefly closed her eyes before looking at him again. "It was a terrible thing to witness. But I'm glad you're alright now." She knew bludger hits were routine, but he sight of that one hit her really hard. It was something of a weird feeling. She had never dated a fellow Quidditch player before. It was hard to see her teammates and friends hit, but her boyfriend was on a different level even. And he probably put it best. She chuckled at his words. "I'd much rather get kissed than hit by a bludger," she said, grinning at the kiss on the cheek. And she laughed as he joked about Rebecca. 'You have to be glad you don't have to put up with her nonsense anymore." She didn't really know Harvey Gunter that well, but he had to be better than her manager. Or at least he seemed it.
Nodding, Esme listened as he talked about his experiences with his new team. She vaguely remembered that Enzo had played before - Puddlemere maybe - and he seemed like a decent enough person, but she liked to see for herself. She couldn't always when she played as she was focused on her own performance and the other chasers. But she was glad that Giles was having a good time settling in and getting into a routine with his other half. "Oh, I'm sure you have plenty of fans in the stands wearing your shirt," she smiled. "But I'd love to join them." It would be really fun to cheer him on.
Smoothies.. that was a little odd and she gave a bemused chuckle. "That's good. I think that's the way it should be as long as everyone is reasonable." She could see if players started getting out of shape or were just eating poorly, then maybe something needed to be enforced. But Rebecca was just ridiculous with the way she made such a presence in their lives. Oh and there was the server. She nodded as Giles placed his order and she glanced down at the menu to confirm what she had thought, then looked up to place her own order. "I will have the grilled salmon with brown rice, please." She smiled as he poured her a glass of wine, picking it up as he set the glass in front of her and she lifted it to her lips. There was something that bothered him, something he wasn’t saying, but wasn’t sure whether to bring it up or not. Rebecca had always been an awful person in his eyes, though good manager, awful person. He had never wanted on the bad side of her and didn’t want Esme there either. “Do you think she will have issues with this? I know it’s none of her business, but I don’t want you in a bad position either. She could try to trade you. “ Not that trading really hurt them being together, though there were rare occasions that international trading happened, but he knew that the player had to agree to that. “For Muirgen, I hope that she either didn’t care or thought she was doing it for the team.” The writer certainly was a joke that was obvious to any real quidditch person or fan.
She’d like to go to the awards banquet with him. That made him smile, he knew she’d look amazing in one of those fancier dresses. She always did in the past. “Good, it will be nice to be with someone there instead of always getting the photographers in your face about going alone. “ He hated that part about any places he went. He could do without cameras. Though he knew how she was feeling and squeezed her hand, “It is different watching now, isn’t it.” He hadn’t realized what putting feelings into the game would do. “I never let myself date another player before.” Though she probably knew that. They were on the same team for awhile. He had been single the majority it. Dating wasn’t ever really on the top of his list. “Oh I am, she is just ridiculous most of the time. She had to know the right people to get where she had. “ It’s the only thing he could think of.
He couldn’t help but chuckle at her fan comment, “Oh I don’t know. Many don’t follow the player they follow the team. So any of my old fans, probably dropped me once I left you guys. Though you’d be the prettiest one sitting there if that’s the case.” He liked seeing her in the T-shirt he had given her, so knowing she was in it in the stands wouldn’t be a bad thing either. He brought the wine up to his lips and took a drink. “Yes, I agree. I think the Catapults are doing great, don’t get me wrong, but if Rebecca was a little easier to work with, players might give 110 percent not just 100.” He thought he knew how to get a team motivated and maybe that’s why Gunter made him a co captain, but it wasn’t the way Rebecca did it.
