"Uhhh..." Toby faltered, and bit his lip. He might have wondered how that looked in his dog disguise, if he wasn't so busy thinking. "I try not to have favourites, but..." his gaze wandered across to where Professor Botros was standing before he realised what he was doing. WELP. He'd given it away now anyway, hadn't he? Toby looked back at mystery-kid-disguised-as-mystery-guy. "Professor Botros. But also Professor Flamsteed. And Thompson." ........ "Favourites are hard."
He'd forgotten all about trying to conceal his own mannerisms and that answer was probably about as telling as an answer could be, right down to the rambling. But now Toby was focusing on his last question so he could guess and hopefully help put his partner more at ease.
"What do you want to be when you leave Hogwarts?" If this was who he thought it was, Toby already had already heard the answer before, so this was as good as making an actual guess. He found himself fidgeting more in anticipation, something conveyed very well even in dog form.
Welp.
"Nuclear Scientist."....A dead giveaway, right? Who else had goals set that high?
...but Gabriel was blatantly unaware that he was being so obvious...and power of mind and thought had taken over. He was more focused on trying to piece this out. Which Hufflepuff was he speaking to? His question hadn't been as specific...but it'd told him a great deal.
The dog!person had used the 'Professor' title with all the names, save for Thompson's. Coincidence, maybe...But why not use it with all the instructors? Unless the Hufflepuff had gotten tired of saying 'Professor'...That was possible, but improbable. The next thing was the actual favorites. Runes, Astronomy, and CoMC...
Hmm.
Gabe happened to pay extra attention in his favorite lessons (Astronomy, Runes, Potions) and the only people who really loved Astronomy as much as he did were Sophie Brown and Tobias Tempus. Not to offend anyone else, but it was a difficult subject and took something extra to appreciate. There was, of course, Adi Rehman...Hmm.
The puppy was shifting around and seemed anxious, and that could've been barely restrained energy and excitement...or just anxiety. One more question would do it.
"How many OWLs did you take last year?" If it was Adi, he'd say 'none'. If it was the other....
