She actually laughed at his self-given reason for how he'd changed. "Why IS that? I mean, that has to be it.... are you not hitting me because I'VE changed?" Was it the professional attire? "Or is there someone special in Paulie Foster's life?" Tori tilted her head and fluttered her eyelashes a little bit. She could get used to talking to Paulie like this again, like they were friends almost. Wouldn't it be nice to have friends again?
Tori shrugged. "Yeah, it's alright. Always something different every day." Minus the writing task... that didn't change. "I like being in the thick of the action." And she LOVED having her ear to the ground. Tori had a lot of good connections here.
Paulie wiggled his eyebrows as she looked at him with careful scrutiny. Deep looks. Was she chin-tapping, TOO? Tori must have been very interested in him, mhmm. "Maybe," he suggested, "Ya hold off on the analyzin' 'till we've hung out a few more times?" See what he did there? It's like she almost HAD to hang out with him again. She was a journalist; she was like.... curious. And stuff. "Louisa, too. Since, ya know, she was the mastermind and all." Ravenclaw. Pssht.
His lack of flirting was not due to the fact that she'd changed. Which she had, by the way. Changed. Or maybe it was simply that old Princess Tori was still there, but she just had some new.. elements to her. Yes. He preferred phrasing it that way. And it wasn't the business attire, no. HAH, no. She still looked sexy in that. It was because he just felt like a right nitwit lately. Had BEEN a nitwit lately. Just like he'd REALLY been one to Tori more than once before. He was rather good at nitwitting, no? One of Paulie's many talents. So, right now he just didn't want to lead her on yet again. He could afford to reproach himself for once in his life because it would pass. No doubt, probably more quickly than it should.
"Oh, I just spared ya the ol' Paulie charm this time 'cause I knew it'd be TOO much to handle when ya've been deprived of it so long," he grinned. He licked two of his fingertips and smoothed back a piece of his hair. SUAVE, you know.
Paulie nodded. "'Thick o' the action.'" Sounded about right. Well, it seemed like she was pretty fond of it. And Tori had been at the Daily Prophet for a good amount of time now, so she probably got on with at least some of the people by now. Like, for example, old watcher-man Jorge over here, keeping an eye out for her.
