Maybe if AJ was all super helpful Zander would feel like he owed her one, and be even more open minded when it came time for her little suggestion. Man, was this chick smart or what?
Did Zander know that when he tilted his head that way that he looked like a puppy? "You would make a cool dog." Ahem. She was getting distracted and off track again. She had a tendency to do that. Oh yeah, open mind. "Of course it's as easy as it looks." It was for her anyways. She never really thought about how it may be struggle for others. "Maybe I just have a gift." Deciding to go ahead with plan B first AJ didn't elaborate on her real intentions just yet. That way if Zander said no she would have her spiders ready for her mission and she would just do it herself. "Yup." See, she didn't have to always be needing big and difficult things done for her. Only she really did, she just didn't go there yet. YAY! He almost got a fist bump right then and there, but AJ decided at the last minute that he hadn't really worked for it yet. AJ was starting to get selective about this whole fist bump situation. "Good thing I stopped by then." Yes, AJ really thought she was being the helpful one in this situation. "Ah, good thinking." The third year unscrewed the lid on the jar, and leaned it over so they could get out comfortably. Her face was so close to the jar that her nose touched it. "Come to mama..."
Once Zander explained what she had to do, AJ smacked the palm of her head to her forehead. "You are so smart. No wonder you were top of the class and made prefect." Seriously, why hand't AJ thought of that? She was over thinking this whole situation. "I thought we had to use a whole different spell, but we don't because they were originally big and all we need to do is stop the spell." DUH. This was a relief because this chick wasn't the best when it came to spell work, and finite was one spell that she had done before. Hopefully this wouldn't take all day.
You know, most normal people would've taken the "trying to study" thing as a hint that they were oh, you know... Trying to study. But not AJ. Nope. She was not a normal person. Which wasn't a bad thing, just a uh... She was... unique. He'd give her that much. "You wanna help me study?" He must've been giving her the most skeptical look ever. No offense, AJ but... You just don't like the sitting down and studying type? But then again, neither was Zander. First time for everything though. Ahem. "But uh, yeah... Sure, if you want." It was nice of her to offer anyway.
The Gryffindor was about to continue when-- Whut. A cool dog? Where in Merlin's name did that even, "What?" tilting his head even MORE this time. Though, he'd take it as a compliment more than anything else. He like dogs. They're great. The best even. Not like cruppy level BUT ALMOST. Anyways, now HE was the one getting distracted and... Where were they? Oh yeah. Her open mind stuff. Whut. "Yeah, uh maybe?" he scratched his head, but tried to sound as convincing as he could. Though uh. Yeah.
Zander just watched couriously as she talked to her jar!spiders. Hm. Interesting.. Opening his eyes widely as she turned back over to him, he gave her an encouraging smile. "I am!?" No one had ever called him smart before, well besides Sophie Brown but she probably didn't really mean it. Just trying to make him feel better about himself. But AJ, she sort of meant it right? This made the Gryffindor slightly straighten his back and he couldn't even try to restrain the smile on his face. "Well, it, uh... Was nothing special, actually. I only remembered because I just went over that part in my notes," they had used the same spell to practice on with their jars and... Writing things down seemed like a good idea since the Ravenclaw Prefect did it so often. And he's A RAVENCLAW! "It just takes a bunch of concentration though," he nodded. Merlin, he was actually enjoying this teaching stuff. Made him ACTUALLY feel smart, you know?
