The conflict between the professors nearly lowered Brooklyn’s expectations. She still had the highest respect for Professor Bellaire, and she was still fascinated by the fact Professor Quigley could turn into a cat, no matter what she’d learned regarding the talent in the last Transfiguration lesson. Neither thing had anything to do with the fact they’d been arguing over whether the students should stand or sit, but she was definitely grateful when the lesson finally started. No more competition over who could threaten the most points loss, especially since she didn’t recall either of them actually following through. She would have, but anyway, dragons.

She’d stayed quiet through the discussion portion, sorting her thoughts between what she knew of real dragons and those from Westeros. They weren’t talking about those, so it didn’t matter if that had been her first thought. She’d written down the spell when it had been explained, however. That and the wand movement, of course. Somehow she doubted everyone would get by without Professor Quigley saying they were slashing wrong, but it was an easy enough movement.

Standing up again, she went up to collect a stone from the box Professor Bellaire had revealed, giving the woman a tiny smile to show she still respected her. She did, after all. Just as she also returned to her seat without a word. There wasn’t a need to say anything. Not until she decided to practice, anyway. “Draconifors,” she said, glancing at her notes again. She wondered if the s was silent, but for now she wasn’t casting. She’d be corrected if she was saying the spell wrong. “Draconifors, draconifors, draconifors.”
