Dmitry lit up when the newborn was placed in his arms, his heart constricting as he gazed down at his child. As the baby wriggled in his grip Dmitry couldn’t help but be aware of how fragile the tiny human truly was. Laying a gentle kiss on his child’s forehead, a silent blessing, Dmitry swore that he would work to lay the world at the infants’ feet, pledging to teach his child everything he knew and to be the kind of father that his own had been when he and Sevastyan were children; patient, kind, understanding and above all, loving.
