A storm raged on the outside, but inside the house Lucia felt happier and more peaceful than she had in several months. It was true what they said about that moment when you first held your baby in your arms - it was the best moment in her life.
Looking at the tiny girl in her arms, the future looked brighter than it had in a long time, like there was a new thread of hope. Like maybe everything would be okay from now on.
"What's her name?" the midwife asked.
The new mother smiled softly.
"Penelope. Her name's Penelope."
