Once he opened the office, she followed inside and allowed herself a seat on one of the long couches. The smell of lavender tingled up her nose as she began to take in her surroundings. A very usual office, minus the scratching post and that cabinet- or well okay, most Professor's had the one or two odd objects in their office. That clearly had to be his to use..to scratch...strange thought.

"Okay so my first favour isn't really a favour it's just-how to put it- insurance?" she began and then paused to see if he would react before she went on. "Basically I'm going to be one hundred percent honest with you if you promise that what I say now, goes nowhere else and that you won't get me into trouble? It's nothing bad, harmless fun really...well you could say and it's not like you have to say yes."Part one said. Now she would wait before his trust was earned for part two, the actual favour.

Instead of joining her over by the couches, Maddox flopped into his own chair at his desk, kicked his feet up and levitated an apple over to himself. Perfectly comfortable, he was now prepared to listen to these 'favours'--one of which, incidentally, wasn't a favour but...insurance?

...Right.

Keeping it to himself, not leaving here...was she talking about informing others? Crunch. He'd have to go find them first, then if despite what she was saying, it turned out it was actually a horrid idea then he'd be expected to do something about it. Eh, maybe he didn't want to hear afterall. This sounded like a lot of work. So much more work than keeping it to himself. Kid was a Gryffindor...what's the worst that could happen. Crunch.

"Sure." He finally replied, his shoulders raising in a casual if not somewhat lazy shrug. Though maybe he didn't want her being honest in case it meant him having to be responsible. Oh well. Cross that bridge if they get their...or turn around and find another way across. There was always that route.

SPOILER!!: Gabe

"Yes, sir...but I've been wanting to...apply this charm in assisting with...Prefect matters."...which was true. Even if there was a second (more personal) motive.

It might've just been his imagination, but the professor didn't look convinced...and he'd been prepared to do some independent searching for it. However, Professor Quigley surprised him with an invite into his office. SUCCESS!

"Thank you."

Following the man into the room, Gabe first glanced at his surroundings. Human nature. It looked......cozy. Of course, it was hard to NOT look at the cushion and....what appeared to be a scratching post. Gabe...quickly adverted his eyes. He was awkward enough without being caught staring at...odd things.

To distract himself, mostly, he just got on with it. "Sir, I'm interested in the...Protean charm."

The Professor might have waved him off then, unconcerned as to the reason he wanted to learn this advanced magic on the grounds he couldn't be bothered to listen but then the Prefect shut up and came in. Look at that, he didn't even have to ask. That worked out brilliantly.

And he was staring...at the cushion and post. Maddox cleared his throat. "Have a seat Mister Banner." He didn't have to stand there. They wouldn't be running out of chairs any time soon, guaranteed.

The Professor settled in his own chair and gave the boy another once over. "Protean Charm..." The boy had mentioned it being useful with Prefecting duties and he could hardly disagree considering they were in different common rooms and locations half the time. "We can go over that, yes. Did you have any items in mind?" To cast on he meant. Keep it uniform, it looked cooler that way. How tacky would it be if they all sported a different item for their communication. Disorganization. Not that he struck him as the disorganized type per say.
