"Although when time permits I sometimes return to London to visit this fantastic establishment called a dry cleaners. Have you ever been? For a people that have no magical blood, muggles certainly can work wonders with stains and wrinkles."
But that was beside the point...and incredibly off topic. Sort of. Certainly not what Mr. Adair had come to discuss.
"While your thanks is appreciated, it is also unnecessary," he chuckled. "You earned it, Mr. Adair. The entire staff at Hogwarts believes in you...so no pressure." He meant that to be more as a joke, a feeble attempt to lighten the mood...but it most likely just did the opposite. Mention of Mr. Hirase caused him to rub his temples. "I hope he did not give you a hard time," he said, turning over a tie in his hand oh-so-casually. "And I understand that your new responsibilities as a prefect may bring about some complications with your friendship, just remember Neville Longbottom and the courage it takes to stand up to your friends."
No, he was not implying that the prefect should keep a close watch on his friend or that he should come down harder on the boy. Mostly, because Mr. Hirase could be overly ambitious and create double doors when he saw a window, that Mr. Adair not let his friend take advantage of his generous nature. The astronomer had already seen it done once.
Setting another tie down in the 'wrinkle' pile, the Gryffindor looked up and gave his Head of House a goofy little smile. "I've been a few times, Professor," only with his mother though and not really by choice, either. "But I don't think I enjoy it as much as you, I don't have nearly enough ties for that," and with that he picked up another one for inspection. Could you believe that? He had so much studying, so much homework, so much STUFF he could have been doing but yet... He was sitting in the middle of Professor Flamsteed's office, on the floor, sorting ties. And you know what? He wouldn't just do it for anyone. But he was enjoying this moment, actually. Even though he was nervous about things. Even then.
The Gryffindor did widened his eyes at the 'entire staff' thing, though. Even dropped the tie down onto his knees before continuing with that. Gulp. "Uh, right... No Pressure," he forced a chuckle, though really, HOLY PRESSURE. Merlin. The Prefect tugged on his collar a little, though still forcing a small smile. Right. No pressure. Surely the man was trying to make things... lighter, but it definitely didn't work. Ha. Ha. Ha. No pressure. Ha. But the entire staff. Did that mean people like Culloden and Bellaire believed too? Because he doubted that. Bellaire probably didn't even believe in anything. Not even butter on toast. She was an odd one. And scary. And.... Yeah.
But Kevin though, that was something else. The Gryffindor shook his head to try and assure the Professor that things were alright on that front. Or at least they seemed alright. "Well at first I was afraid to tell him... So I didn't, not until he bumped into me on the train," So courageous. Oops. "And I don't think he took it too well at first, but then.. When I needed him most, something changed and well, I think we'll be alright, Professor." It was like Lotus said, the feasts would be the hard parts. And there wouldn't be too much time between rounds, but he'd have to make time because that's what friends did for each other. "Y'know, sometimes I think this might make us even closer. Like before, we could just hang out all the time! But now that I have to study-- I mean uh, study more," he corrected himself with a sheepish grin and a slight blush. "and do Prefect duties, it means we actually have to put an effort in.... Does that make any sense?"
But Neville Longbottom. Zander had a thing or two to say about that. "Speaking of Neville s--," almost adding a 'sir' in there but stopping himself, knowing what the clearing of the throat meant earlier. "I finished the book," he even smiled a little in pride at that. 'Cause it was a pretty big book and he had read it from cover to cover. THAT was a HUGE accomplishment!! And he didn't have to do it for a class or homework or anything. Just because he wanted to. And Professor Flamsteed wanted him to. "And well, I was just wondering... What happened that changed him? He used to be so quiet and kind of just... there. But something changed and I don't think that happens on it's own. So I was wondering if you knew, if you knew what made him become this great person?"
