"And I believe I got a front row seat myself." There really wasn't much else to think when a woman had you rubbing against her face while she spoke to you like you were 5.
The man still seemed somewhat distracted, even as he leaned against his desk. It could have been nothing but his nose was acting up even more than it should have. He was almost sure he could smell...well...cat. Odd, yes but it wasn't a scent that greeted him often in his office thanks to the charms put in place but...it wasn't possible. There was no catnip, there were no cats. Maddox found himself rubbing at his nose, wondering if maybe it was going out of sorts. "Really?" He had to try focusing on the conversation. "What do they have to do with Divination?" He had NO idea. The man continued rubbing at his nose for another moment before shrugging. "Don't worry about it. No hard feelings." In truth, he was already over it.
But then he heard a soft scuffle sound coming from her bag. Blue eyes darted to it, locking on as she began some high pitched squealing. Ow. Aha, so he HADN'T been going crazy, not on either account. There was a cat and there was catnip. Immediately Maddox flicked his wand and the cabinet by the cupboard swung open. "If you could be so kind as to store it in there." Sealed to keep all scents inside; he didn't fancy being distracted. "Thank you." Later, they could be enjoyed.
She might be blushing, yes she was blushing. He did see first hand her love for animals. "Well since I was a little girl, I have had the gift for Divination, it runs in my family actually, but for every seer comes a special gift. Mine is I am in tune with animals." Shew as very proud of that little gift and wasn't afraid to share it.
She looked at the cabinet in which was was pointing and walked over setting the catnip treats inside. "I hope you enjoy them, my little guys love those treats." Though she felt a bit weird giving them to a man. Oh well to each their own she decided and walked away from the the cabinet so he could close it. "Oh they have everything to do with Divination. Animal's are like fortunate tellers within themselves. If you really know an animal you can predict things to come very easily. If there are no birds in the sky, you can bet within a few hours a bad storm will show itself. The same goes for cats. They have been our friend and helpers for a long long time." Her eyes lit up as she spoke passionately about the subject. "Now the difference is someone like yourself. You are not fully a cat, so to use you in Divination would not work and that's what I've come to speak to you about today. I am doing a lesson about Divination and cats and wondered if you would join us even if just in the beginning so that I could speak about this a little and have a real example." She knew even in his cat form he would have human mannerisms which would make a reading impossible and that was what she wanted to show her class.
She looked at him with an encouraging smile hoping he would be willing to help her. With the treats placed in the cabinet, Maddox magicked the door shut once more. Lots of things were temporarily stored in there with it being preferred to extending the drawer at his desk and storing things there.
Nah, he liked that practically empty.
On an unrelated note, the Divination Professor must really have felt chewed up about the incident gone to be offering up explanations where none were required. Cats were endearing creatures, it wasn't the first he'd received a response like that, nor would it be the last as he was sure. "Cassie, relax, I said it's fine." In retrospect it was far less dramatic than it had seemed at the feast and even then it hadn't been a huge cause for disgruntlement.
He listened without interruption to her explanation of animals and Divination but it wasn't until she hit the part where he came in that active listening began to take place. Where he came in was usually the important part that needed understanding right away in case he ended up agreeing to something he'd regret. "So then...you want me...to come to class...as a cat, so the students can tell the difference when divining....?" Did that sum it up about right?
...
.....Eh. "Sure, why not?" And a casual shrug to boot. "Just lemme know when you want me showing up." Staying longer than needed, however, was out of the question. He'd seen enough of those children's behaviour to last him a lifetime and he had his own classes to be stuck with them.
