Which would be a lot better, since he had already known he was mean to Mia when they had first met. Sure, back then he thought it was a good reason to be mean to her, and well.. WELL.. he still wouldn't want a squashed pumpkin pasty from out of her pocket. Nik let out a PRETEND scoff at her PRETEND sniff. "You stuck your finger right into that pumpkin pasty. Not to mention it was squashed in your pocket."
He had been HUNGRY. And she was TEASING him with a SQUASHED pumpkin pasty! That was so mean of her.
Why were they even talking about this anyway? He didn't like when they talked about their first meeting. Meh. "You didn't threaten to remove my arm." Although, she was probably thinking of it. "You just said those people in the third world countries would give theirs for that pasty. And then.. I kind of told you to give them yours.."
All was forgiven, though, RIGHT? What in the name of Merlin was he talking about? Mia let out a laugh and she was tempted to throw some lettuce at him. "I did not stick my finger in it." It was true that she had sat on it, but that had been an accident. She had been saving it for later and then totally forgotten it was in there. "Did you ever stop to think that I was trying to get your attention?" And it had certainly worked.
How did he remember all this stuff? Sure she remembered offering him the pasty but she could not remember everything that was said. "You always say that you hate the way we met but secretly I think you love it." She leaned in and gave him a kiss on the lips. "It was unique."
She returned to her salad and picked her way through it. "So how come you never go to your school reunions?" Surely they had them. |
