Maddox couldn't even pretend to be shocked by the fact that the woman simply didn't care. How could he when all the signs were there. This would make things a little trickier than he'd first imagined and it...automatically got him thinking he would need to put some effort into it, a thought that was cemented with her request for an assistant? The hell did he look like?

Still, there was a chance he could get away from an accident he'd caused on himself so the man shrugged and lied plainly. "Of course. Nothing difficult in that." More like he'd get a student to do it..if he felt so inclined to be bothered doing right by this woman in the first place.

"This is all under the condition you can help me." Because he wasn't assisting if she wasn't good enough and didn't help him. This wasn't a free for all. He needed something for his work.
