There were just some things that could relax a person, familiarity of a friend or a setting, and right now the sight of Emily did relax Victoria some. She had been tense from previous meetings. Following the Department Head into her office she smiled, "How are things going with you?" She hadn't caught up in awhile, but her schedule was so packed she wasn't getting much breathing room and the chances she did get she was spending with her family. Not believing Bart and Cossy were heading back to school soon. She hated knowing she'd be alone in the house some nights again.
She needed a second in-tray... or not. After rounding her desk and seating herself, it came to her attention that half of her in-tray consisted of bulky envelopes. Some of those envelopes were familiar enough to be discarded for the time being, so extracting those few she opened the cabinet behind her desk and shoved them into her handbag. Later.
Hearing Vic mention things of friends and coffee... well, her initial response would have been a resounding NO, but her stomach said otherwise, and a caffeine boost was very much needed. "Oh... thanks," she replied, allowing a small smile to grace her features as she gestured to the empty chair opposite her. Sit, stand, lay down, it mattered not to her right now, but that coffee certainly belonged on her table.
"Busy," was the only word that came to mind. "More-so than usual, but things will settle."
"And yourself? How's Bart and the girls?"
