That's great to give local artists that kind of opportunity." Of course it reminded him of an area of New York, though he really wasn't sure if it was the same or not. And he was pretty sure what he was thinking of was not a Wizarding location. "And your brother helps you run the place or he just lives there?"

He gave her a crooked sort of grin as she asked about his own line of work, happy to discuss it. "It is a rather broad subject," he agreed with a slow nod. "I suppose my specialties would include ancient Egypt and runic magic, but I've always been interested in magical theories as well." He supposed he attributed that in a way to being Muggleborn or maybe he was just inherently curious. He could talk for ages about it, but he had learned long ago that not everyone shared his interest and the last thing he wanted to do was bore his date to tears. He couldn't quite tell if she was genuinely interested or just being polite, so he tried to gauge her interest without going overboard. "It's an extracurricular program for kids not yet ready to go away to school but gives them a fun way to learn about magical artifacts from foreign countries without boring lectures." Maybe he didn't find lectures boring as long as it was a topic of interest, but he had learned that children's interest could not always be held so long.

He glanced down at the menu again at her mention of wine preference, then grinned a little. "Great, red it is.." That worked for him as well and he ordered a bottle to share as the server came their way.

"You're a rolling stone, I think." Lucie tapped her lip with one finger and measured just how much being a Londoner 'right now' and having roots in New York weighed on him. He was rootless, in a sense, or his roots ran so deep that even being away from home for years wouldn't uproot him. Was that how it was for Lucie too, or would she be able to walk away from London someday?

She was happy to talk about her shop, though, and Braith's enthusiasm was awfully gratifying. "Not necessarily one of a kind pieces, although sometimes that's the case. Mostly just local designers, and I support their fashion lines, offer a place for them to showcase their off the rack work. But my brother just lives there. He doesn't help in the shop. He has a job at the Ministry." And he was a lovely brother, her favorite person in the world.

When Braith began talking about his job, Lucie wondered if her eyes started to cross. It wasn't dull, far from it, but it was a subject she couldn't contribute to at all.
