She still had a few weeks left of her maternity leave, but after Mariel got the memo from the Junior Undersecretary, she thought she could spend a few hours in her office that Friday. The Department Head knew that Victoria was keeping a good eye on things in her absence but she knew it wouldn't hurt to come in for a little bit to see if anything else needed her attention. After convincing Jorge to agree that she could go in the office for a small amount of time, she used her personal floo to arrive.
Stepping further in, she took a look around. Just as she left it, not that she expected anything different. Mariel thought for a moment about visiting the other offices in the department, but she would wait to see how long this meeting with Mr. McMillan would take first. It did strike her curiosity, but she would soon find out in due time. Taking a seat at her desk, she pulled over a few pieces of paper that were left on her desk and began reading while waiting for the man she was waiting on to arrive.
