"Well, I certainly encourage this particular creative outlet," he chuckled as he approached his seat and lifted the lid on the tea pot. He had read about the concept of participating in activities that made you feel closer to someone you admired and, truth be told, that was precisely why he had become interested in the subject of Astronomy. Some found his particular interest a bit questionable due to it being based primarily on individuals from fiction. "Whatever keeps you, motivated."

And hey, if he got to benefit from stellar looking (and hopefully tasting) baked goods...then ALL the BETTER!

"And I do remember your card, Miss Brown. I have it tucked away in my office back home," he winked. They had been kept in his office until the Christmas holidays, but the whole Professor Hooksteed situation had made him do some preemptive spring cleaning. It had been a stellar distraction.

And then his perceptive of the Ravenclaw was turned completely on its head. One did not become so close with a Hufflepuff (in this case, Mr. Tempus) with that sort of thinking. Although her tone implied that she was, perhaps, being sarcastic. Then again, knowing Ravenclaws and their eccentric nature, it was hard to tell. "I don't know about that, Miss Brown. Even Spock understood the value and significance of friendship. I wold hate for you to deprive yourself of the revelation of all that you could accomplish with connections to others, of friendships that will define you both in ways you cannot yet realize."

Just to paraphrase a bit of Spock - although not from the version of Star Trek he preferred.

Throwing her another salute, the astronomer made eyes towards the sofa and the his desk. Which was the more suitable location for their conversation? "How do you take your tea, Miss Brown?" he asked, checking the tea pot again and ultimately letting her decide where to sit and thus dictating the tone of the conversation. OH YES! Pebbles. Airey beamed and pat his pet rock fondly on top of her head. "He saved her life and I am eternally grateful," he nodded. It had been terrifying for the astronomer to have no recollection of where she had gone an no solar eclipses occurring to test his luck again with a summoning charm as he had done in the past. And he WAS incredibly proud, but surely the twinkle in his eyes translated that feeling without the need for words.

He... still... had her card?

WIBBLE.

Soph tried NOT to be a big baby about that, but that DID get to her, so she turned and looked to the complete other side of the man's office so he wouldn't see how close she was coming to crying happy tears. No, no - she COULDN'T let him see that, so all she said in reply was, "That's really nice, that you keep that kind of stuff. I like the artwork from your students on the walls here, too." Casual conversation to keep her from being an emotional wreck was the safe way to go, and soon enough, she had gained her composure fully. No wibbly lips and NO TEARS.

...Flamsteed was taking her awfully serious, though, when she thought she was very obviously joking. When the man was finished lecturing her, she couldn't help but turn to him and laugh, shaking her head in protest. "I was just kidding, professor. Friendship and interpersonal relationships are my top priority in life, closely followed by my school work and knowledge and all my aspirations. I'd do just about anything for a friend, even if it meant it might interfere with other things I want. Nothing's more important to me." Just so he knew.

Following his gaze to their seating options, Sophie stopped to consider them briefly - she always felt like she was in a professional sort of setting with Flamsteed, but she WAS curious about whether or not he would break down some of his walls and ever talk to her like an equal rather than a student. The sofa seemed like the option to go to if she wanted to achieve the latter, and considering the topic of their forthcoming conversation... Soph actually thought that might be a good idea. Less formal might make the conversation a lot less awkward, so she strolled over to it and sat down. "I'll actually pass on the tea, thank you." She would feel too guilty about drinking the man's tea if the conversation went undesirably awry at any point.

Saved her life. Eternally grateful. For the briefest of moments, Soph thought about that Muggle Disney movie, Toy Story, and considered asking if it was an intentional reference - could have been, couldn't it, since it had to do with space rangers and aliens? - but didn't want to steer off the intended course she wanted the conversation to take today. Though that DID remind her that she wanted to ask the professor's opinion about aliens. Maybe... maybe she could do that later, if things didn't get too uncomfortable.

"D'you remember anything that happened during that class, professor? Anything at all?" Her tone was light and very, very cautious, as she had a very great feeling Flamsteed didn't want to even so much as think about that day. But it was IMPORTANT to her to find out.

"I'm just wondering because... I dunno, I know when Professor Botros was King Triton from The Little Mermaid story during his class, somehow he knew about runes and was telling people to use runes to find stuff, and to ME, it seemed like..." cue the vague hand gestures, "Botros was still in there, y'know? And the King Triton guy was... I dunno, maybe... channeling him subconsciously or something? So I was just wondering if... I dunno, you think there's any possibility you were still in there, too, like... if Captain Hook was able to channel you at all, y'know what I mean? I mean, OBVIOUSLY it couldn't have been that strong, given all of what happened and the state of your laboratory at the end of class, but... just..." She shrugged. "Just wanna know... what you think, and if y'can remember anything at all, even like... a blur of stuff."

Was he going to yell at her for bringing it up?
