New York City, was it? And here he was living and working (she hoped) in London, which was half way across the world, as far as Lucie was concerned. Traveling a lot didn't replant you in a different place. It just meant you saw the world more. There was more story here, definitely.

"For the time being? Sounds like you left your heart back in the Big Apple? I always wondered why they called it that. Is there actually an apple? Do they grow them there?" She was off topic, but when else would she have a chance to ask a real New Yorker about that nickname?

She took a menu as well, giving it a cursory look. "I grew up a bit more rural, although I'm a city girl now. My brother and I share a flat over my shop." Pause. "I own a shop. What do you do?"
