Divination Homework 2 - Post #2 be curious, not judgmental Without a question, the playpens were Sophie's favorite place on the grounds, so it just kind of made SENSE that she would just happen to wander down there in her search for Snow White. BUT, it also made a whole lot of sense - in the stories, Snow White was all about the animals, wasn't she? Didn't they just FLOCK to her? So... maybe since Soph didn't see animals moving in all directions across the grounds toward one central point where Snow White might have been, maybe Snow White had gone to the animals instead.
She neared the playpens curiously, her eyes flickering immediately to the part of the wooden fence that had her and Toby's initials carved into it, and she couldn't help but smile a little even at the thought of it. As she looked around, all she saw were various creatures in their individual pens, but there was no Snow White, let alone a human being, to be seen.
Siiiiiiiigh.
Curiously, Soph took the mirror from her bag and peered into it, wondering if it COULD actually be of any use in this silly search. She smoothed down her hair, lifted her chin a little to get a better look at her complexion in the light, and briefly considered tying her hair up into a ponytail to keep the wind from blowing it and making it all tangled, but the more she peered at her reflection, the more she thought she looked pretty cool with her hair blowing like that. Like a runway model or something like Elodie. Though... Sophie knew well enough that she wasn't beautiful enough to model like Elodie - she was merely plain, perhaps cute or sometimes pretty. But not stunning or beautiful or any adjectives necessary for one to become a model - she knew she paled in comparison to her older female role models of Cat, Elodie, and Vivi.
But this didn't discourage her - Sophie knew Hermione Granger had been a plain jane, too, and they weren't defined by their beauty. They had more going for them than that, things that would inevitably carry them successfully throughout life. She would absolutely follow in the footsteps of Hermione, just like the Wandmaker had said she would - wasn't that why she had a twin wand of the famous witch? Because she was destined for that kind of greatness, too?
At this thought, Sophie realized there was no point in trying to scry in a mirror like this to try to find Snow White - Hermione hadn't needed Divination, so neither did she. Nor had Ira Banner said it was a subject she needed to excel in to be a Wandmaker, and she was certain she didn't need it for potion-making either, so...
She put the mirror away, gave one last longing sort of look toward the spot where she had carved those initials, and made her way back up toward the school. She'd keep looking for Snow White along the way, certainly, but she'd kind of given up hope of finding her, if she was even out there. If she wasn't hiding away in a little house nor with the animals... where COULD she have been? Besides not around anywhere at all?
