Just when Jasmine thought that she couldn't hold her eyes open another second, the Hippogriff bowed. "Oh, so you wanted to make me work for it, huh? Well I don't give up easily." Now that he had given her permission to approach, Jasmine started walking slowly toward the Hippogriff. No sudden movements, eyes still locked on his, she eased forward.

Jasmine stopped right in front of the Hippogriff and paused for a moment. Then she reached out her hand and brought it to rest on top of his head. Giving it a rub, she began talking to her new friend. "Do you have a name?" She knew about Henry, but the other Hippogriffs must have names too. Jasmine had a thing about animals and names. "My name is Jasmine. For now I'll call you Buddy because we're going to be good friends." Continuing to stroke Buddy's head and muzzle, Jasmine wondered when she would get to groom him.
