He should get use to the assistants because they are like the extended shadows of the boss.
Lara took the man's hand and shook it with a polite smile. Junior undersecretary. He was an important one here and one she was likely to be working closely with, delivering messages and running errands and all kind of things. "Nice to meet you, Mister McMillan," She nodded at him. Quote:

The minister's no doubt since she knew that Isaacs did not have more than one assistant. But it also meant that she and Mister Neves would be working together. He looked like a decent guy, she knew she could endure all kinds of people but it seemed that so far she did not have to. Nice environment to work in. "Pleasure meeting you," She nodded at him. Going over to the coffee cart, she poured herself a cup quietly before she dealt with any other greetings. Not to mention introductions. She hadn’t thought her choices at the orientation had been ill-advised, yet it was becoming even clearer now that she hardly knew anyone. “Good morning,” she said simply, the still-rather-new hint of a Scottish lilt present in her voice. She wouldn’t bother to say much more unless it was asked of her, for now. Instead, she sipped the coffee in her hands. There must have been more people yet to arrive anyhow. She doubted there were only five employees working on this level. Her face lit up when she saw Amethyst. It felt really nice to see a familiar and friendly face. Lara was very grateful for the coincidence that got the two ladies to meet before. She felt she could find a friend in Amethyst. "Good morning," She replied cheerfully. Quote:

He wouldn't have said anything about her eager demeanor but for the fact he didn't think his heart could take it much longer. Merlin
With that, Gavin took another glance down at his watch before deciding they wouldn't be waiting around any longer. Anyone else to show up would receive a scowl of disapproval and the task of catching up on their own. "I think it's time we got this meeting underway." He said, clearing his throat. "We'll start by welcoming our new employees, Ms. Black, Ms. McCrae and Ms. Stephens and I feel you should all be aware we will be expecting a busy year this time around, one full of changes, even moreso than the previous one." In case any of them were wondering. "Before we get any further, are there any concerns anyone would like to air?" Do what? She was doing her job exactly. Was she over-doing it? Naaah. Can't be it. But maybe, just maybe she forgot to announce her presence. Next time she was going to cough. Or simply clear her throat. Since her boss turned out to be a jumpy man. Wouldn't have guessed him to be but eh, looks could be deceiving.
Oh, and the man SPILL coffee. Lara's wand was out in a second. A little wave and a non-verbal spell did the trick. The man did not have to do anything except talk now. She was on everything.
And meeting started. Lara sat straight and noted all the names of the people who entered offering polite smiles and nods. When her name was mentioned she straightened just a tiny bit more. That was her. And since she did not have anything to say she remained quiet waiting to see if someone else had anything in mind to share. Quote:

He didn't say a word, just waved his hand at Gavin to continue. As always, Albert had a few words to say, but he could wait until the end. And the minister was here. Lara always thought that the first time in which she would meet the Minister of Magic it would be a big deal and some fancy occasion. Except it was neither. The man just casually slipped in and seated himself without so much as a word. No one from the returning employees seemed to find it surprising which meant that it was a normal thing for Mister Kettleburn. Noted. She could easily adapt and learn the habits as to not be surprised or alarmed.
